Mees Röttgering wins the prestigious World Tennis Tour Junior Finals. Together with his private trainer Jochem Mol, Mees travels around the world and previously reached the final of Wimbledon and the semi-final of the Australian Open. Yesterday, the final was played in China, where the eight best juniors under 18 competed for the world championship. Mees defeated the Spaniard Rafael Jodar in an exciting final with 6-4 7-6 and crowned himself world champion.
The left-handed Mees has been training at Amjoy Tennis since he was six. He has already been Dutch Champion several times and won various European tournaments, but this victory is an unprecedented milestone. Never before has a Dutch junior tennis player reached this level. Mees is now in first place on the world ranking list for juniors and can call himself the best junior tennis player in the world.
Originally from Wanssum, Mees made a conscious choice to study in Veldhoven, where he combines tennis with school at the Joriscollege in Eindhoven.
In the coming year, Mees will compete with the world's top senior tennis players. He is currently ranked 800th on the ATP rankings, but now that he is fully committed to professional tournaments, he is expected to quickly rise towards the top 100. Next month, Mees will join the Dutch Davis Cup team, where they will compete against Spain, including Alcaraz and Nadal.
In addition to the world-class performance of Mees Röttgering, Amjoy Tennis has another reason to be proud. Stan Put, another talented player from the academy, became European Champion under 14 in September. This is also a special achievement, and Stan follows in the footsteps of greats such as Novak Djokovic. He also trains at Amjoy Tennis and travels to many international tournaments with his coach Benjamin Reek.
With these double successes, Amjoy Tennis confirms its status as a breeding ground for future tennis talent at the highest level.
