Amjoy Cup returns this summer at a different location
After last year's successful edition, the Amjoy Cup returns in the summer months. Just like last year, the team, led by tournament director Wim van den Hurk, organizes three tournaments: Amjoy Cup Tennis Europe u10/u12/u14, Amjoy Cup ITF J60/Wheelchair and Amjoy Cup ITF 15K.
The location of the tournament for the youngest youth remains the complex of tennis club TOS Bergeijk. The two tournaments that fall under the flag of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) will move within Eindhoven. The clay courts of tennis association Genneper Parken form the backdrop for the two ITF weeks this year. The Amjoy Cup thus moves the tournament to the sports heart of Eindhoven. Last year, the ITFs were completed at ELTV's complex.
Tournament director Van den Hurk is pleased with the move: “How nice can you have it? The Genneper Parks built new clay courts last year. The tennis park also has a pavilion with changing rooms that meet all requirements. There is plenty of parking space. The complex at the Genneper Parken is 'the place to be' for the ambitions of the Amjoy Cup. It is a nice step towards the Challenger, which we want to organize in the future!”
Chairman Klaas Schoustra of Genneper Parken Tennis sees a role for the tennis association: “As one of the larger tennis clubs in the south of the Netherlands, we feel jointly responsible for stimulating tennis in recreational and top sport. We are therefore happy to make an active contribution by housing the Amjoy Cup at our beautiful tennis park.”
The dates of the tournaments have also been set for this year. The Tennis Europe takes place from June 24 to July 2, the ITF J60/Wheelchair takes place from July 23 to 30, and the ITF 15K takes place from July 30 to August 5. The field of participants will be announced at a later stage.
About Amjoy Cup
The Amjoy Cup is the collective name for the international (youth) tennis tournaments that arose from the needs of the AMJOY Tennis Academy. Top-level tennis will take place for three weeks. In 2018, the first edition took place with a unique U12 tournament for the Netherlands. The Amjoy Cup has now grown into the largest international youth tennis tournament in Europe with all relevant categories: U10, U12, U14, U18 and Wheelchair U18. As icing on the cake, a professional ITF tournament for seniors was added last year with a prize pool of $15.000.
The tournament has big dreams for the future. The organization hopes to grow the professional tournament into a Challenger in the short term. In the long run, this should eventually become an ATP or WTA tournament.
